I hope no one minds that I'm going to use this space to ask for some help with a project very dear to my heart.
I'm a participant in a project we're calling "Beyond The Storm: Shadows of the Big Easy." You can find out more at this Website: www.beyondthestorm.us. We really could use your help.
Please read a bit more about this below.
In short, we've rounded up a good group of writers, editors and artists from the gaming community and some related areas, and we're putting together a tribute to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast culture. Everyone involved is donating their time, talents and resources. The proceeds will be going to victims (and I'm working on setting up official channels for that to happen. Go figure, the Red Cross is
busy.) Everything above printing costs is going to the Red Cross to help survivors rebuild their lives.
This was my husband's answer to "Hey, what can I do?" and we've been tremendously moved by the enthusiastic response we've gotten. Here's where I ask your help. If you're interested in gaming, please buy one, these are some talented folks. We also have some essays, poetry and short stories, so if you're not into gaming, buy one anyway! And, of course, if you could talk it up, we'd appreciate that, too. If people show an interest here, I promise to keep you all updated as our "fast-track" project speeds along and gets closer to distribution.
We'd like to sell these so that we can raise as much money as possible. No profit or loss to us, BTW, the joy of print-on-demand makes this risk-free. Our sales goals are purely in hopes that we can get more to the people who need it.
I know this might come dangerously close to spam, but it is spam in a good cause, so I'm going to ask for your sufferance based on that and my long-time participation in this community. (You can check out my user ID. I've been around since before forever.)
